1. What is the purpose of the CT Chapter Mentor Program?
Our chapter is rich with experienced and knowledgeable coaches who have created and enjoyed successful businesses. On your journey, some of you may have benefited from the guidance of a sage who helped you sidestep landmines, discover effective shortcuts and who contributed to making your business more than you thought it could ever be.
In the spirit of helping to grow the coaching field, we believe that mentoring is an important offering for our members. So, we have come together to form the ICT–CT Mentor Program Committee and have designed a program which will match seasoned mentors in a partnership with mentees.
An effective tool for sharing knowledge and experience, mentoring is a great opportunity for those of you who have reached success to help others achieve it, as well as provide a vehicle for greater membership integration and chapter strength.
2. Is a Chapter Mentor a “Mentor Coach”?
The Chapter Mentor Program is not intended to take the place of the “Mentor Coach” role that many certification programs require as part of the certification process. Though some of our Chapter members may also be Mentor-Coaches for a coach training program, the purpose of the Chapter Mentor Program is to provide someone who you can bounce your ideas off of or wep_pick up some tips and tricks for being more successful. The Program is not designed to necessarily hone your coaching skills.
3. How do I become a Mentor?
That’s easy! To make your self available as a Chapter Mentor, simply log-on to the Member Directory and go to your profile. In the Chapter Mentor Area, click the radio button next to, “I am available as a Chapter Mentor.” It as easy as that! When someone searches the Member Directory for a Chapter Mentor, your short profile will come up in the list. By default the “I do not what to be a Mentor" is selected. If you do establish a Mentor relationship, please change your profile status to “I am currently mentoring a Chapter member.”
4. How do I Find a Mentor?
That's easy too! Go to the Member Directory and click the box “Show Chapter Mentors.” A listing of the available Chapter Mentors is presented. If one of the short listings looks interesting, click “View Coach Profile” to see additional about that coach. When you find someone you like, you can either click on their email address and send them information about your interest or call them using the telephone information provided.
The program is self-directed, meaning that those who are interested in participating will be responsible for making the initial connection and then determining if the fit is a good one.
5. How long do the Chapter Mentor relationships last?
The duration of the mentoring relationship is up to you and your mentor. This is an important towep_pic to discuss during your first conversation. Additionally, since the program is self-directed, you should discuss how and when you will communicate and any other pertinent details.
6. What if I have additional questions about the Chapter Mentor Program?
