Hello Coaches & Friends,

LEARN, Grow, Connect, and Contribute – our chapter motto

Ah! September, it’s time for school to start again. When I think about most of the coaches I know, we seem to have one value in common above so many others – we love to learn and then to apply that learning to our lives and our coaching practice.

That is the heart and soul of our chapter – gathering at chapter events, learning something new from our presenters and from each other, and then discussing how to use that knowledge. Coming to our chapter meetings helps us to EXPERIENCE, and thus deepen, the learning.

As human beings, we are hardwired towards negativity and overwhelm; especially during tough transitions and high-stakes decision-making. So, in times of trouble – when people are triggered – how do we shift our clients’ mindset from “What’s Wrong” to “What’s Strong”?

Using the scientifically validated Values in Action (VIA) Survey, this presentation will unpack how to identify and deploy character strengths towards masterful communication, meaningful decision-making, and motivational goal-attainment.

By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:

Understand Character Strengths research and how to use it to support clients in taking a proactive rather than reactive approach when triggered.
Understand how Positive Emotions impact innovation and exploration
Understand the neurobiology of the Negativity Bias and how to use VIA strengths to reframe
Identify strategies for Uncovering Conflicting Values to guide clients out of a “stuck” mindset.
Evaluate Strengths-Based approaches to increase positive emotions, amplify problem-solving, and inspire values-driven action.
Apply the scientifically validated Values in Action Survey to help clients gain self-awareness in the pursuit of meaningful goals and motivational avenues for attaining them.
