President's Message

Hello Coaches & Friends,

Monica LeggettHappy New Year! Let’s all hope we have clear sailing and clear vision in 2020.

This is the time of year for resolutions, though most of us don’t make those anymore. I think the 2020 version of New Year’s Resolutions, from a coach’s perspective, is to evaluate 2019 and to set a vision and a course for 2020 with the outcomes we want, we need, and we dream of.

I love to review what energized me, what drained me, what big wins I want to celebrate and either duplicate or reinvent for the new year. I also look at the challenges I faced and reflect on how I might do better this year. Finally, I look at what I want to start new that will round out my life. Sound familiar? Stop. Start. Keep. Change. 4 words we can all use in our coaching practice!

Our ICF Board will be doing a little of that exercise in the next few months. We want your input! What would you like to see more of, less of, adjusted, or new? Personally, I love that more members are finding ways to participate in the chapter and that we are reaching out to the community. Over one-third of our webinar attendees this fall were from another chapter, another country, or were non-members!

The January meeting is a great example of the camaraderie and collaboration that is possible when you just reach out to members and ASK! Three Past Presidents and two very seasoned coaches from our chapter will be facilitating and leading discussions for the January 31 program, “Hands On Coaching Scenarios and Core Competency Model.” Thanks to Dina Markind, Jean Stetz-Puchalski, Karin Whitley, Jill Berquist, and Annalise Evenson for donating your time and talents to this event.

I look forward to sharing the morning with as many of you as possible. We will dive in with 3 great case scenarios (you choose 2), and you will be able to take on the role of coach, client or observer. We will include a short debrief at each station and then with the full group. We will also have time to talk about the adjusted Core Competencies. A copy will be provided to each participant.

Reach out to your coaching friends and invite them to the meeting. If you know someone who is thinking about coaching as a profession, or dabbles in coaching in their job, this would be a GREAT meeting to invite them to.

Let’s kick off 2020 with a big group!

Sincerely,

Monica Leggett

1.5 CEU of Core Competencies awaiting approval

Join us in January for a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves coaching workshop. Deepen your learning while you deepen your professional network and make some new friends. You’ll get to know the updated ICF Core Competency Model and improve your coaching skills during this highly interactive program. If you are new to coaching, you can be the client or observer – a perfect opportunity to experience coaching with no pressure!

Senior coaches will facilitate 3 separate stations, each with a different case scenario. You will rotate through two of the three stations during our event and then we’ll have a full-group debrief and discussion. The scenarios will cover 3 types of clients:

  • Health & Wellness/Life client
  •  Leadership/Executive client
  •  Life Transition client

You’ll get to work through your choice of two of the scenarios and will interact as either the coach, client and/or observer, followed by a small-group discussion with your trio and with the facilitator. We will also have a full-group discussion about the updated Core Competency Model and how you can apply what you have learned in your coaching practice.
