I saw this quote on LinkedIn, shared by my brilliant daughter, Christine. This quote speaks to me – to my heart as a person, and to the volunteer I have been for decades. I see it as a valuable lens to shape the future of ICF Connecticut, with our motto of “Learn, Grow, Connect and Contribute.”
We are a chapter of multi-talented coaches, trainers, speakers, and authors. Many of us are connecting and creatively collaborating, meeting at Coach Cafés, participating at meetings, attending webinars, joining committees or the board of directors, and shaping the direction of our chapter. I’m very excited by the camaraderie and hope all our members will join us!
A recent collaboration example: a handful of us are taking the latest Business Development Education Series offered by ICF Global. We have paired up with accountability partners and will be posting our progress with each other on the Member Forum of our website. Peek in from time to time on our forum page as we get clear on our personal branding. One bit of advice from the course that a few of us liked in particular:
“Eliminate the word F_ _ _.” No, not that word! And not Fear, Fail or Fake, either. The word we are encouraged to eliminate is FINE. Why? You don’t want people to describe your coaching as just fine, average, or adequate. You want to hear “exceptional, amazing, outstanding, life-changing!” And here's a powerful coaching question: What steps can YOU take that will keep improving YOUR coaching so YOU’LL hear those words?

A few other ways to connect with fellow members:
1. Coach Café – Danbury! A new Coach Café is starting soon in the Danbury area, thanks to members Suze Shaner and Dina Markind. Watch for dates.
2. Join our Welcome Team! We are building our hospitality/membership team. These are the friendly folks who greet attendees at our live events and reach out to new members as they join our chapter. If you’d like to join our team, please email Suzanne Kennard at

3. Int’l Coaching Week (ICW)! ICW takes place on May 4-8, and it will be a big collaborative effort as many of our members present webinars to the public, and others help in support and marketing roles. Volunteers are still welcome! President-elect@icf-ct.org.
At our next in-person meeting (March 27th), we’ll focus on even more ways to connect – including by geography, niche, and business model. We’ll also be doing a fun “speed-networking” activity. Please join us on March 27th in Shelton for “Networking to Grow Your Tribe: Leveraging your ICF CT Membership” (8:30am breakfast/networking; 9am program start).
Finally, save the date for April’s in-person meeting - April 24th in Hartford.

| Networking to Grow Your Tribe: Leveraging Your ICF CT Membership

We are excited to devote a full chapter meeting to provide ways for you to connect with your ICF Connecticut tribe, to get to know the current and future board members, and to investigate ways to get involved in the chapter.
We’ll have a speed networking exercise as well as break-out groups by communities of practice, geographic locations, and specific niches.
Everyone will have the opportunity to Ask and/or Share:
- Ask – Is there a question you want to find the answer for? An assessment you’re curious about? A niche or training you’d like information about?
- Share – Have you attended a recent training or read a book or article that you think we might like to know about? Are you active in another organization or association that might benefit our chapter members?
Come prepared with a stack of business cards and a sense of what you want, what you need, and what you hope to get as a result of being a member of ICF CT.
