   ICF-CT Weekly

Board Member Spotlight

This month's spotlight is on Evelyn Jenkinson, who is a Marketing Committee Member. She was also an integral part of 2020's ICW success.

Who am I?
I am originally from Long Island, NY, lived in Bethel, CT for 25 years and very recently relocated to Beaufort, South Carolina. I have been coaching exclusively online, so my geography has become less important.

I spend most of my free time exploring my new neighborhood, beachcombing, cycling, writing and reading. I have more hobbies and interests than I can keep track of, including raising chickens, knitting, and decorating. My husband and I love global travel adventures, and I look forward to resuming that as soon as possible.

What do I do?
I am a Board Certified Coach (BCC) currently coaching people who feel “stuck” in transition, most of them during mid-life. Many of my clients are looking for greater purpose and more fulfillment in the next phase of their lives.

I use my ICF training in conjunction with my training in neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) and meta-coaching to help clients identify and articulate what they want, the limiting beliefs and distortions that are holding them back, and how they can move forward. I believe that great rapport is the heart of the coach-client relationship, so I start with a complimentary exploratory session during which we discover if we are a good match!

I am also a co-founder of The Coaching Cohort, where we help clients make changes in pursuit of their personal and professional aspirations.

What am I passionate about?
I am most passionate about relationship-building and communication. For more than two decades I worked as a communications executive in the corporate world, helping leaders articulate their vision and objectives, and inform and motivate their workforce. I learned first-hand that being able to clearly articulate your goals, values and beliefs is at the core of everything we can achieve. In 2018 I decided to “repurpose” my communication skills and pursue my credential as a professional coach. Coaching has turned out to be the most rewarding way to use my communication skills: to help clients pursue what matters most to them.

What unexpected “gifts” will you celebrate this month?
I have my son living with us in our new home for now (after his college graduation). It’s temporary due to the “COVID-19 job market” and it was unexpected - but it’s a real joy to have him back for a while.
