President's Message

Hi Fellow Coaches,

Are you feeling the growth and renewal energy that comes with May in Connecticut? The greening of the grass, the bursting early blooms of azalea and the flowering trees are a visual treat, reminding us of the blossoming possibilities for all of us. What’s happening for you? Are you stepping into new professional development for yourself or your business?  Perhaps you’re implementing fresh programs for your clients or organization, building on these springtime energies. Whatever you are doing these days, we at ICF-CT wish you success, cheer you on in those endeavors and remind you that we exist to support you with our programming, resources and initiatives. Let us know what you need!

May also means International Coaching Week is almost upon us (May 17 – 23)!  ICW is just one of the many ways our chapter joins the worldwide ICF coaching community to intentionally celebrate the experience, power and impact of professional coaching. It’s the time of the year when we create specific programming that aligns with ICF’s ICW theme - this year, “Defying Challenging Times.” As a chapter, we focus on supporting our local CT community and on letting that community know that our chapter is Connecticut’s “go to” resource for professional coaching!

This year we are recognizing the unique challenges faced by Human Resources professionals in our state, particularly this last year. We’ve created several events that support them as they learn from these challenging times, while offering insight into how leveraging professional coaching resources can help them adapt, rebuild, and develop personal and professional strategies for the “new normal.” These events are FREE!!

During that week, you can also join us for an evening with renowned coach and author Michael Bungay Stanier, Easy Change vs. Hard Change: The Difference Every Coach Should Know, presented along with our fellow Northeast Chapters. You can sign up here (link). There will be a free follow-up event to discuss the key learnings from his talk. Sign up here.

I want to thank ICF-CT International Coaching Week Committee members: Jean Stetz-Puchalski, Randall Chase and Evelyn Jenkinson for their ongoing work to bring this year’s ICW into form and to our Programs Chair, Lori Candela.

Let us know about what you’re doing to nurture growth and renewal - for yourself or your clients!  Head over to our LinkedIn and Facebook groups and start typing. And as always, you can reach me president@icf-ct.org.

Believing in you,

Judy

Getting Rewired for our Next Normal:
New Ideas for Coaches and Clients

Figuring out the future or one’s next act was tough enough, and then along came COVID-19 and made the challenge even harder. As a result of the pandemic many of us have made new, good, bad, and ugly discoveries about ourselves. If we are honest with ourselves, we gained insights that can impact our futures at work, at play and in life overall. Whether we are talking retirement, transitions, rebooting, repotting, or rewiring is irrelevant. It is how you “do” the future that matters…not what you call it!

Rewiring can be done as many times as you want and at any age or stage of life. Even the smartest people need guidance to maneuver the journey. In this presentation we will talk about what rewiring is and the areas in our lives that can be rewired. There are no silver bullet formulas for success, whatever that means today; new tools and new thinking will be shared.
