President's Message from Judy Garfinkel

Judy Garfinkel | Published on 12/1/2020
Dear Fellow Coaches,

Is it really December already? For many of us, 2020 can’t be over fast enough - and I truly know that feeling. As we enter the last month of the year, I’m reminded of the research about wellbeing, which tells us that joy in anticipation of positive events and celebrating together are two powerful ways to cultivate resilience and greater life satisfaction. As coaches, we know that helping our clients mine the possibilities in every situation is how we help them (and ourselves) move forward into greater fulfillment and success.

So with that mindset, let’s welcome December! At ICF-CT we’ve got much to celebrate and more to look forward to. Here are a few:

Did you hear?

Coaching Circles are back! Free member-only groups, Coaching Circles are an opportunity for our coaches to share their expertise and experiences while supporting and learning from each other about a specific topic.

The Women’s Leadership Coaching Circle begins January 8th. It will focus on real-time challenges and opportunities that arise when coaching female leaders. For more details about this circle, click here.

A shout out to Membership Chair, Naomi Rafalowicz, for reviving Coaching Circles and thank you to members Allison Holzer and Rachel Roth for bringing the idea forward and collaborating with Naomi to get the first one going!

If you have an idea for a coaching circle, contact Naomi at membership@icf-ct.org.

Help us complete our committees!

A couple of weeks ago, I sat in on a meeting in which two new committee members shared the results of their findings. Their joy in working together and enthusiasm for helping our chapter were palpable.

Got gifts? Got something you want to learn? Serving as a committee member is a chance for you to learn or enhance a skill. We invite you to shine your light for the benefit of our members and the coaching profession. Plus — we’re fun!

Please consider joining one of these committees:
Save the date for our Chapter’s Virtual Holiday Party:
Winter Holiday Schmooze (& Booze)

Oh The Places We Will Go: Dreaming of Destinations Beyond!
Friday, December 11th
Happy Hour: 5-6:30 PM

Finally, as the air gets chillier (okay, cold), I long for simple comforts: the embrace of a warm sweater, hot soup, and the preparations for my family’s winter celebrations. Even during these unusual and challenging times, we can all find small comforts and things to celebrate.  Please check out our Facebook and LinkedIn pages to share what you’ll be celebrating.

Believing in you,

Judy
